“The Buddha said: ‘To listen and to reflect is like staying at the door. Zazen is precisely to come back home, to sit calmly’. How true it is! While we listen and we reflect, our points of view have not been stopped, and the land of the spirit is as if it were frozen. That’s why it is like staying at the door. But in this Zazen, everything is at rest and there is no place where we do not penetrate. It is because of this that it’s like coming back home, to sit calmly. All the passions of the five veils arise from ignorance. Ignorance is to not understand oneself. Zazen is to understand oneself. Even if we have resolved the five veils, but we have not resolved ignorance, we are neither a Buddha nor a Patriarch. If we want to resolve ignorance, negotiation of the Way through Zazen is, without doubt, the key. An ancient said: ‘When error is suppressed, peace appears. When peace appears, wisdom manifests itself. When wisdom manifests itself, reality unveils”.
