“Sleeping at a temple
With my true face
Matsuo Bashō (1644-1694)
After the Summer Camp (Ango), some engagements with practice are still ahead during this last period of the year, starting with the October Sesshin, a one-and-a-half-day retreat for putting aside the never-ending personal busyness and pursuing a deeper practice together with the sangha and close to the Master.
To move from the insubstantial world towards what is important constitutes a personal choice; to reject a limited ego troubled by afflictions is a personal decisión.
Arrivals to Shorinji are to be made on Friday 11th during the evening. The sesshin begins with a dinner around 21:00. Persons new to the practice, if there are any, will be provided with a brief instruction class on the spot. First zazen on Saturday starts at 7:00, followed by three more along the day (a total of 4). Attendants must participate in the samu –work connected with the temple life, carried out silently focused in what one is doing. On Sunday, after two zazen, the sesshin will finish with a kan-pai or toast followed by a meal a bit finer and more festive.
The sesshin is carried through under the direction of Ven. Barbara Kosen, Master founder of the Asociación Zen Taisen Deshimaru, as well as its main places for practice: Mokusan Dojo and Shorin-ji.
The price amounts to 60 euro.
Non-members of Asociación Zen Taisen Deshimaru must register and pay a fee of 20 euros, which covers one year-membership.
