I wish to teach you Zen in its pure and true essence, which is not directed to the mind but to the whole being, by means of practice.
It will take place in Shorin-ji from May 1 to 5. Arrivals are to be made on April 30 in the evening.
With the ocassion of this sesshin we pay homage to master Taisen Deshimaru, who passed on April 30, 1982. The impact of his mission in Europe was inmense as regards the dissemination of the practice of Zen, to such an extent that he has been known as “the Bodhidharma of modern times”. Now in the small temple of Shorin-Ji, amidst the calm trees of a silent mountain, we follow the traces of master Deshimaru through the labor of our master, Barbara Kosen, who transmits to us the received treasure by means of her unadulterated and trustworthy practice.
This four and a half days’ sesshin constitutes a great opportunity to practice going along with the simple life of a Zen temple: Zazen, guen-mai (rice gruel breakfast), coffee time, lunch, rest, samu (communal work), zazen, dinner, zazen, sleep. Habitual concerns drop and our original face wears a smile.
This sesshin is open to anyone interested in deepening his or her zazen practice, even as beginners. We will strive all together towards spiritual victory, as stated in the Hannya Shingyo.
The price is €150 per person. For those with limited resources it may be reduced to €130.
In order to be able to practice in Shorin-Ji it is compulsory to be a member of the Asociación Zen Taisen Deshimaru, so those who are not members must register and pay an additional fee of €20 which covers one year.
Please bring flashlight, eating bowl and sleeping bag.
